The Summer Reading Program is a free reading incentive program for all ages at your local library. Stop by to sign up, read books, and win prizes!
Weekly programs are offered for preschool and school-age kids at each library. Watch for special events for teens and adults. Click on the links below for a schedule of events.
The Adams County Public Library currently has a job opening for a Library Page position, starting at $7.95 per hour, 20 to 24 hours per week. The successful candidate must be at least 16 years of age and enrolled in secondary or post-secondary coursework. Applicants must also be willing and able to work at any of the four Adams County Library locations. Shelving materials and maintaining the order and organization of the library collection are some of the primary duties.

Two popular resources are now available through the Adams County Public Library.
Access every Chilton's Automotive Repair manual ever published online, through the Chilton Library website. Select a vehicle year, make, and model to instantly view repair diagrams, step-by-step instructions with pictures, maintenance schedules, and recall bulletins. Easily print the specific information you need, and take it with you. Access to the Chilton Library website is now the primary way to use the reputable Chilton's manuals, since the company will no longer publish paper editions. Access to the Chilton Library website is available through the Adams County Library's website, or by installing a free Chilton Library app on your smartphone or tablet.
The library now offers access to Powerspeak Languages, an interactive online language learning course. Learn basic conversational skills in Spanish, German, Italian, French, or Mandarin, through an interactive exchange that includes listening, speaking, and hearing phrases in conversational context. Use Powerspeak Languages to study English as a Second Language, customized for Spanish speakers. Create a free user account so you can track your progress, and bookmark lessons to resume later. Access to Powerspeak Languages is available through the Adams County Library's website.

The Library Catalog is now available as a free app for smartphones and tablets. BookMyne allows you to search for items, place requests, and manage your account on your mobile device from an easy-to-use app. Download the free BookMyne app from the Apple iTunes Store or the Google Play Store.
Install BookMyne, and select your local library, add multiple library locations, or let BookMyne show you a list of the closest library locations. Log in with your library card, and view your checkouts, holds, fines, and account information.
Search the catalog by keyword, browse a list of results, and place holds on titles that interest you. Click on any title to see more detailed information, including which library locations have that item on the shelf. If you have a specific book or movie in mind, use the barcode scanner to scan an ISBN, to quickly find that book or movie in the library catalog.

This February, the Adams County Public Library announces the retirement of Harold Showalter, who has served as Executive Director of the library for fifteen years. During his time as Director, Harold oversaw the Adams County Public Library’s transition to computerization, and major building projects at several of the county’s libraries, including the new North Adams Library building, completed last October. The Adams County Public Library board and staff wish Harold all the best in his retirement, and thank him for his long service to the library.
On February 10, Nicholas Slone joined the Library as the new Executive Director. Nick Slone comes to the Adams County Library from the Garnet A. Wilson Public Library in Waverly, where he was responsible for managing public services and public relations. We look forward to working with Nick Slone, and welcome him to the Adams County Library and the community.
The Adams County Public Library's Online Catalog and eBook Catalog have recently been updated. We're excited to share some of the new, enhanced features of our updated Online Catalog. Use the catalog to find items faster, with more accurate search results. On the left side of the home page, follow links to see lists of the newest items added to the catalog, organized by format, including new DVDs, new fiction, non-fiction, and audio books.
The eBook Catalog has been renamed the Ohio Digital Library, and offers over 125,000 titles for instant download, including eBooks, audio books, movies, and music. Use your library card number and PIN to log in to the eBook Catalog, and check out items that interest you. View these brief instructions to help you get started.

North Adams Library Now Open on Moores Road
The North Adams Public Library is open in its new, permanent home at 2469 Moores Road in Seaman, next to the North Adams High School. The Adams County Public Library board, staff, and the local community gathered on September 29 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication for the new building. Thank you to the Friends of the North Adams Library, and to all the many groups and individuals who contributed time and effort to make this dedication such a successful event.
Stop by and visit the North Adams Library during regular library hours, Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. The library stays open until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Browse one of the thousands of new books, audio books, movies, and children's items, use the Internet on a library computer, borrow a library laptop to use in a study area in the building, or connect to our free 24/7 wireless Internet. Need to copy or send a document? Use our scanning station to make copies, send faxes, or scan documents to your USB drive or email account. Check out our dedicated teen area, where kids can read, study, or browse for new books.
